After a beautiful scenery drive we arrive at the Benedictine monastery of Montserrat {3000 feet} where we still find a community of monks. They have lots of work to do, such as teaching the pupils, praying at sun rise and sun set and assist the visitors.
This holy mountain became more known once a statue of the Holy Virgen was found in a cave by some children of the village. Inside the Basilica you will be able to venerate this black Madonna and listen to the children choir aged 7 – 14 years old, named Escolania.
It is the oldest children choir in Europe. Enjoy your free time visiting the museum with a variety of famous paintings such as the ones by Picasso and Salvador Dali. Montserrat is one of the places where pilgrims come and go constantly.
The second part of our tour we will spend in Sitges, a city known for its Catalan artists mostly from the 19th century. A nice stroll through the streets and/or along the beach makes the past coming back in this town of the Jet Set.
